Rare Small & Pretty 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl – B4
SOLD
Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Note: B4 (Crown Chakra)
Weight: 410 grams (0 lb 14 ½ oz). Size: 12 x 6 cm (4¾ x 2 ¼ inches)
This nice quality small 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl has a grooved lip and tiny decorative dots encircling the outer rim. The neat button lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by two sets of decorative circles, and there is a matching yoni or navel underneath.
The fundamental note is an excellent middle octave B4 (501Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes slightly to 504Hz with a wooden ringer. It is a responsive bowl and easy to play.
It is in good structural condition, clean and stain-free, with a particularly attractive outer wall; the smooth top part contrasting nicely with the more mottled hammered surface below.
This lovely little bowl fits comfortably in the palm of the hand for playing. Very small antique Lingam bowls this size are extremely rare and sought-after by collectors.
A ringer is included in the price.
