Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: Eb4 & A5 (Solar Plexus & Third Eye Chakras)
Weight 792 grams (1 lb 12 oz). Size 17 x 8.5 cm (6 ¾ x 3 ¼ inches)
This is a fine superior quality example of a rare antique Lingam Singing Bowl. It is beautifully proportioned and thicker and heavier than usual for its size. It has a gracefully curved wall, a grooved lip, and a gently rounded bottom. The lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, and there is a deep matching navel or yoni underneath.
There are two bands of decorative dots encircling the outer rim, and faint evidence of a single line around its middle…the wall having been worn smooth from handling and cleaning over the years.
The fundamental note is a perfect concert pitch middle octave Eb4 (310-312Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a nice fifth octave A5 (897Hz) with a wooden ringer. It is very responsive and easy to play.
This antique Lingam bowl is in excellent structural condition, clean and free of stains, with an attractive greenish patina over a golden bronze.
A tibetan silk brocade cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
