This Antique Mani Singing Bowl has a fifth octave D (595-600Hz) fundamental with a strong beat. As with most Mani bowls, the note is the same whether struck or played around the rim. This is a responsive bowl and easy to play.
It has all the typical characteristics of this ancient bowl form…flat bottom, bulbous tapering walls, wide inward-facing grooved lip, circles at its centre, and decorative banding below the outer rim and around its belly. This medium-size Mani is structurally sound but would benefit from some gentle cleaning.
Antique Mani bowls are generally thought to be between 200 and 400 years old and are now very rare. It is structurally sound.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
