Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: D4 & G#5 (Sacral & Throat Chakras)
Weight 719 grams (1 lb 9 ½ oz). Size 17 x 10.5 cm (6 ¾ x 4 inches)
This is a rare antique pot-shaped Lingam Singing Bowl with an interesting D4 voice arising from its unusual form. The fundamental note is middle D4 (292Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave Eb5 (618Hz) harmonic with a wooden ringer, but this is sometimes sweetly accompanied by the D4.
This rare 19th century pot-shaped bowl has an unusual flanged lip, a lingam at its centre surrounded by two sets of concentric circles, and a navel or yoni underneath. It has an attractive simplicity of form and a character all its own.
It is in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free, with walls worn sensually smooth with the passage of time.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
