Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: F#5 & G5 (Heart & throat Chakras)
Weight 424 grams (0 lb 15 oz). Size 12 x 6 cm (4 ¾ x 2 ¼ inches)
This is a rare small bell-shaped antique Lingam Singing Bowl, sometimes described as a resting bell. It has extra thick walls, a rounded lip, and a pronounced waist. There is a neat nipple-like lingam at its centre surrounded by circles, and a matching depression or navel underneath. There are decorative bands around the inner rim and around the waist.
This is a very rare and interesting little Lingam bowl that will appeal to collectors. It probably had a ritual purpose, perhaps as a receptical or sacred cup, rather than being an instrument. The fundamental note is F#5 (745Hz) when struck, and G5 (766Hz) when played around the rim with a wooden ringer. The rim note is slow to build and In keeping with its bell-like form it is best struck, when it produces a bell-like sound with a short sustain.
It is in excellent structural condition, stain-free, with an aged patina.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and 2 small strikers/ringers are included in the price.
