Exquisite Bronze Himalayan Temple Handbell with Garuda & Hanuman

£450.00

Antique Bronze Temple Handbell with Garuda and Hanuman

Size: 9 ½ x 2 ¾ inches (34 x 7 cm)

A fine example of a superior quality antique bronze priests handbell, superbly modeled and hand cast in a bronze alloy by the lost wax method and therefore a unique one-off item.

At the top it features two well-defined praying deities on a plinth.  On the left the mythical Garuda bird standing with outstretched wings, and on the right, kneeling, Hanuman the monkey God.  Seven protective snakes (nagas) fan out behind them.  On the back of the nagas there is a built-in ring for hanging.

A twisted spiral handle leads, via several tiers, to the bell which was cast separately in a slightly different metal alloy.

The rung note is a nice sixth octave G#6 (1627Hz).

This handbell is in superb condition with an aged patina that could be removed if desired.

Note: Audio clips coming soon.

When you buy, handle, and ring one of these antique bells you can be confident that it is a genuine and revered holy instrument that has played an important part in countless sacred rituals and ceremonies for at least 100 years. Each bell is a fascinating and beautiful object in its own right, with the look and feel of antiquity…but perhaps more importantly, when it is rung one can sense the spiritual energy, power and purpose with which it is imbued, and the present ineffably connects to the past.
