Primitive Antique Bronze hand-Held Shaman Bell with Trident Top

SOLD

Antique Bronze Ritual Bell with Trident Top

Size: 7 ½ x 3 ¾ inches (19 x 9.5 cm). Weight: 1 lb 10 ¾ oz (758 grams)

This rare antique Shaman Hand-Bell was almost certainly made by the shaman for his or her own personal ritual use.   It has all the hallmarks of an amateurish and primitive casting by the lost wax method, making it a particularly unique, charming, and interesting ritual object. It follows the Himalayan shamanic tradition of making one’s own ceremonial and ritual power tools.  The trident is a three pronged spear and the weapon the Hindu God Shiva uses to fight off negativity.  The rung note is G6 (1525Hz).

Although intact and undamaged, it is the bell’s imperfections that I find so charming…the patterns that aren’t quite uniform, the accidental creases, the spills and tiny blobs of surplus bronze on its surface. One can almost imagine the shaman proudly saying to a friend, “I made this bell myself”. Despite all its imperfections it served its ritual purpose and lived to tell the tale for a century or more.

An interesting and collectable Shaman bell with an attractive deep golden bronze colour and the patina of antiquity!

Originally belonging to a Shaman, antique bronze ritual hand bells of this type are few and far between, and are highly prized by religious practitioners, shaman, yogis, healers and sound therapists, as well as serious collectors.

When you buy, handle, and ring this antique ritual bell you can be confident that it is a genuine and revered holy instrument that has played an important part in countless sacred rituals and ceremonies for at least 100 years. It is a fascinating and beautiful object in its own right, with the look and feel of antiquity…but perhaps more importantly, when it is rung one can sense the spiritual energy, power and purpose with which it is imbued, and the present ineffably connects to the past.
