A Perfect Example of a Small Antique Dorje Crown Jhakri/Shaman Phurba
SOLD
Antique Tibetan Shaman Dorje Crown Phurba from Nepal
Length: 18 cm (7 inches), Carved Wood
This small antique Himalayan Jhakri or Shaman Phurba has been beautifully and intricately carved. The top features a dorje (thunderbolt) crown above the four faces of a wrathful deity, each baring a different expression. The faces are separated by entwined nagas.
The hilt is a dorje set between two endless knots.
The 3-sided blade features a Makara mythical winged creature baring its teeth, while each facet of the blade has entwined snakes (nagas).
This phurba would have been carved by the shaman for their personal use in transformational energetic work, healing, and protection rituals during their life-time.
This is one of the most finely carved antique phurba in my entire collection. It is in an excellent state of preservation, and has an attractive aged patina from long use.
A small but perfect example!
Note: Most phurba on the market today are modern reproductions faked to appear old, and it takes a keen eye and considerable experience to tell the difference. This wonderful old phurba was originally acquired for my personal collection, and not for resale.
