Antique Folk Art Carved Elephant and Mahout

This is an antique folk-art carving of an elephant and his mahout from Nepal.

Carved from a single piece of hardwood it almost certainly represents a particular family elephant and his mahout (elephant rider, trainer, or keeper) sitting sideways directly on the elephant’s back.

This antique carving has great charm and will appeal to a collector of elephant items.  It is in perfect condition with its original black stain and aged patina.
