19th Century Female Ancestor Figure 27 cm (10.5 inches)

A superbly carved 19th century nude female ancestor figure or guardian standing figure collected in Timor, Indonesia, in the 1980s.  She stands solidly rooted to the ground, with a wonderful expression and an almost monumental presence that belies her size…a really special piece! Carved in a local hardwood, this fabulous little sculpture is in excellent condition and has the patina of use and age.
