This erotic wood carving was purchased from an art gallery in Bali in the mid 1980s. It was made for the tourist market and is one of a pair by the same unknown artist. I bought it for the quality of the carving and its very unusual subject, sexual intercourse. The Balinese are not prudes, and it’s an honest piece that leaves nothing to the imagination.
It has been superbly carved from a single piece of beautifully grained Indonesian Suar Wood, and is in perfect condition.
Original vintage pieces like this have become very collectable in recent years.
