Vintage Ikat Textile – Warp 2’ 10” x Weft 1’ 4” (86.5 x 40.5 cm) excluding fringe

Handwoven in Cotton on a Back-strap Loom

This interesting small handwoven warp ikat textile was personally collected at source on the Indonesian island of Sumba in the 1990s.

This shoulder or head cloth features traditional Sumban textile colours and motifs…crocodiles, roosters, and (possibly) a stylized frog.

Its relatively small size (34 x 16 inches) makes it suitable for display as a wall hanging, a decorative runner, or scarf.

This handwoven ikat textile is in excellent clean and stain-free condition.
